In Mick Foley's first book (bear with me here), he relates an anecdote about Diamond Dallas Page. After years as a pro wrestling manager, and at the age of 36, Page had started to make a go of it as an actual in-ring wrestler in WCW. Foley was having a conversation about Page with wrestling legend Abdullah the Butcher. While Foley had his doubts about Page's career, Abdullah was certain Page would go far in the business, because "he lives his gimmick, brah. He lives his gimmick."
Skateman only appeared one time.
Just a few months into his career, Night Thrasher started using his skateboard less and less.
But Dazzler?
Dazzler was commited to those goddam mirrored disco-ball skates.
She skated against Dr. Doom.
She skated against the Hulk.
She even skated against Galactus. Galactus was unimpressed, since he once coated a dude in silver and made him fly through the void on a boogie board. Galactus knows from fabulous.
Next time: Those who skate for EVIL.

There is something to be said for a super chick who actually had POWERS but she also skated.
Night Thrasher was just angry.
Dazzler could turn sound into light. It was her choice to put the skates on and go up against Galactus. That guy eats planets but D was like, "Watch this fool!" and then Boogie Wonderland was playing and it was ON!
She even got to hang with the X-Men and I think the Avengers for awhile. She was like Marvel's Truman Capote only she wasn't a little catty prick.
You go Dazzler!
There is something to be said for a super chick whose actual part is to be a walking disco jam.
The lousy concepts behind her characters always made it hard for her to truly shine, pardon the pun, as anything beyond a support character.
Now she just stand in limbo with a number of others hoping for a decent revamp.
